MAR Automotive

We have gone to Mar for auto repairs for many years. Previously we always were impressed the honesty, precision and professionalism that they offered.However, there is new management in place recently. We have had an experience that was very unsatisfactory.We brought our vehicle in for winterization and putting on the snow tires October 17, 2022. We also let them know of a loud whining noise that was getting louder. We got the vehicle back after their inspection and work, only to notice that there was now leakage as well as the noise.We took it back on October 21, 2022, and they said that it was a defective oil filter which was then replaced. But did not address the noise that was prevalent.However, we then noticed that the noise increased and further leakage had taken place at this point. We then decided to take our vehicle to another reputable mechanic in the area.They advised that the transmission fluid was almost completely unusable as if it hadn't been checked in a very, very long time. No way that the transmission fluid would have passed an inspection if properly done. The mechanic also advised the CBT pump was almost completely eroded.The mechanic advised that the transmission has been completely ruined and we currently have no vehicle. So we can expect to spend anywhere from $5000 at least for a new transmission or consider a new vehicle altogether.There is no explanation as to how in a matter of 5 days, that the transmission fluid would go from being checked off as good as part of the checklist inspection process. To then being completely unusable.This is an extremely disappointing and expensive result that was not expected.Prior to this new management team, we never had a single problem or issue with Mar and their service. They were always so dependable, honest and reliable.To go from that previous excellent record of service to what we experienced this last week is downright disgusting. Not just for the obvious inconvenience and time lost. But now the cost of a whole new transmission or vehicle.We enclose pictures of the leakage left in our driveway and garage.

My drivers power seat stopped working so i went to the net and found out that the problem was common and sometimes hard to trace. I did some investigating and could not diagnose the problem. The net said expect to pay between 250 to 350 dollars to find and fix the problem . More if the motor was the issue. I went to Mar and they told me to go find a switch at a wrecker (cheap) or try on line and replace it and see if that solves the problem. Found the switch on line...cost me 31 dollars and installed it in 20 minutes. MAR advertises honest service. This is not lip service. They did no work but saved me about 300 dollars. Thank you MAR for dispelling the all too common narrative about most auto repair places.David Garrett

My recent dealing with Dan and James at MAR Automotive was very positive. The diagnosis was not that simple, but time was taken (not charged for) to get it right. They made sure I knew all the facts, and honoured the estimate given.I am very pleased how well my vehicle performs...feels almost like new! I brought my car in to have them look at my 'below the radiator heating and circulating pump' that had just shorted out. They put it up on the hoist and I was able to see the hole that had burned through the pump. They didn't charge me for the inspection.I went and got a new pump and they took me in at 9 am the next day despite being busy. Adrian replaced the pump in 45 minutes for a very fair price.Ray and Adrian seem very honest and down to earth. I highly recommend their services. God bless!

Just had work done on our 2013 Buick Encore. Leaking valve cover, coolant leak, and odd squeaking sound under the hood. First two issues, no challenge for them. Third problem was a real oddity but they figured it out. Wasn't a pulley, or belt, or any typical problem. What impressed me is that they didn't just start replacing parts to try" to solve it. They actually identified the problem and solved it. They could have easily hosed me with a new pulley

Brought a vehicle for a pre-purchase inspection. Dan up front and the mechanic in the back both answered all my questions. The inspection was thorough and comprehensive and they both made our decision so much easier. Thanks again for getting the vehicle in the same day I called, and taking the time to talk to me. Appreciated all your help. Would have no issues bringing a vehicle here for servicing, you are in good hands.

Great staff here. Always professional and do great work. I've been taking my vehicles to mar for many years. Never had a problem with over priced work or parts. Hard to find a shop that still have that small town excellence. Thanks guys!!

Very knowledgeable staff, wonderful to deal with, fair prices. Very service oriented. Amazing service. If you dont want to be ripped off make sure to bring your vehicles to this location. Great location. They have recently upgraded the size of there garage so they can take on a greater amount of vehicles. They take pride in there work and back up there words and promises unlike most and many mechanics today.

I took my 2014 Impala LTZ to have it looked over due my light sensors. After taking it too Chevrolet they charged me $300 . Mar Mechanic charged me $65.00 I decided to save my hard earned money they fixed my car for a heck of allot less . Thank God this company is not taking making you pay like the Dealerships price. Mar Mechanics is the only place I’ll ever get my Baby looked after . You guys are my besties .

Excellent work, excellent shop. Dan and James are top notch.... very honest fellas that own the place.
